Enel Green Power is the renewable energy arm of Enel, an Italian multinational energy company and one of the largest power utilities in the world. Enel Green Power has operated in South Africa since 2011 and, together with the Qatar Investment Authority through the jointly controlled Enel Green Power RSA, has developed and operates more than a dozen wind and solar plants across the country, with over 1.2 GW of installed renewable capacity in provinces including Limpopo, the Free State, the Northern Cape, and the Western Cape.
Enel Green Power funds the Enel Bursary as part of its social investment commitment to the communities where its South African wind and solar projects are based. The bursary is administered on Enel's behalf by StudyTrust, a national bursary management organisation, in partnership with Dalitso Holdings, and is aimed at students from communities near Enel's renewable energy project sites rather than at the general public.
Note for site editors: this provider is unrelated to Denel Dynamics (node 27), a South African state-owned defence and aerospace manufacturer. The similar-sounding names (Enel / Denel) refer to two completely different companies in different countries and industries.
