About Csir Sasol Foundation Bursary
The CSIR-SASOL Foundation Bursary is a joint programme between the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Sasol Foundation, funding undergraduate study in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electronic Engineering, and other priority fields.
Because it is co-funded, recipients get more than tuition money: they gain co-supervision on real CSIR research projects and up to six weeks of vacation work each year, giving them a level of hands-on research exposure that a purely financial bursary wouldn't include.
Funding Details
Funding covers tuition, registration, books, accommodation, a living allowance, and a one-off laptop allowance. Recipients also get up to six weeks of vacation work at the CSIR each year, co-supervision on real research projects, wellness and academic support, interview skills training in their final year, and possible mentorship from senior CSIR professionals.
Where You Can Study
The bursary is restricted to public universities in South Africa - private institutions do not qualify.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply
You must be a South African citizen, currently in Matric or studying at university, intending to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in one of the priority fields at a public university. You must have achieved the required minimum Matric results.
