About Grandwest Bursary
The GrandWest Bursary is a Corporate Social Investment initiative of GrandWest, the Cape Town casino and entertainment resort operated by Sun International, established in 2007 to support students from disadvantaged Western Cape communities. Since its founding the fund has assisted well over a thousand students with tertiary study costs.
The bursary is restricted to residents of the Western Cape studying at a defined list of Western Cape public universities, and applications are handled directly by GrandWest/Sun International via email rather than a public online portal.
Funding Details
Based on GrandWest's published guidance, the bursary covers registration fees, tuition fees, and a textbook allowance. It does not appear to cover accommodation or general stationery costs. The bursary is non-repayable, but recipients are asked to complete community-service hours as part of the programme's community-upliftment ethos.
Where You Can Study
Limited to the University of the Western Cape (UWC), Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), the University of Cape Town (UCT), and Stellenbosch University. Priority fields of study include Tourism and Hospitality, Information Technology, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, and Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
