Frequently Asked Questions
Has the 2027 intake already closed?
Yes. The 2027 Capitec External Bursary Programme closed on 12 August 2026, which has already passed as of this writing (27 August 2026). The next intake (likely for the 2028 academic year) had not yet been announced, so no future opening or closing date is given here to avoid guessing.
What happens if I accept the bursary and then don't work for Capitec?
Capitec applies a standard work-back obligation: recipients are expected to work for Capitec for a period equal to the number of years funded, or to repay the value of benefits received (plus interest at the prime rate) if they do not.
Can TVET/diploma students apply?
No. This programme is specifically for Bachelor's degree and Honours (NQF Level 7+) study; it does not cover diplomas or TVET-level qualifications.
