About DENOSA Bursary
The DENOSA Bursary gives paid-up nursing members a small contribution towards their studies. The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa awards it through its Study Fund Committee. Applications for 2027 close on 31 January 2027, and the committee does not consider late forms.
This award rewards loyal membership more than it replaces full funding. So it works best as extra help alongside your employer's support, a student loan or another bursary.
Funding Details
DENOSA is frank about the value. It says that amounts are small, and that a bursary covers only a small portion of your expenses. The page gives no rand figure, so plan your budget without relying on this award.
Each bursary is a once-off donation that does not renew automatically. Therefore, you must apply again every year if you want further help. The page does not mention a work-back. Donor firms help to fund the awards, but you should not contact them about bursaries, except to thank them.
Results take time. DENOSA says that it will notify applicants in April 2027 at the earliest, so you may need to pay your first fees before you know the outcome.
Where You Can Study
The DENOSA page does not list or limit institutions. Since the award only covers a small share of your costs, the committee is more concerned with your membership and your form. Confirm with the secretary if you plan to study outside South Africa, because the page does not address this.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply
You must be a DENOSA member, and membership length is the first test. You need at least two years of fully paid-up membership immediately before you apply for the 2027 bursary. You must also stay paid-up for the academic year you apply for, and for your whole course or degree.
The page offers a general bursary form and a separate postgraduate form, so choose the one that matches your studies. Beyond membership, the page does not list particular nursing qualifications or minimum marks. Ask the committee's secretary if you are unsure whether your course qualifies.
Nursing students who are not yet members cannot use this route straight away, because of the two-year rule. However, it is worth knowing about if you plan to study further later in your career.
Check your payment history before you apply.
Application Procedure
Get the 2027 form from the DENOSA bursaries page, a provincial office or the committee's secretary. Do not ask donor firms for it. Fill it in completely and email it to leahr@denosa.org.za. The page also mentions the Secretary, DENOSA Study Fund Committee, P O Box 1280, Pretoria, 0001, so call 012 343 2315 to confirm the address to use.
