Eastern Cape

Funding in the Eastern Cape comes from provincial and municipal programmes and from companies with operations in the province, such as quarries and wind farms. The economy includes automotive manufacturing in Gqeberha and East London, the ports and industrial zones at Coega and East London, farming and a growing renewable-energy sector.

Many opportunities on this page are for residents of a particular municipality or district, so you will usually need proof that you live in that area. If you come from a rural district, look closely at the local and provincial bursaries, which often target skills the area needs. Opportunities open to students from any province are on our main Bursaries, Scholarships and Learnerships pages.
