About Kumba Iron Ore Bursary
The Kumba Iron Ore Bursary funds mining, engineering, environmental, finance and human resources students from the Northern Cape. Kumba Iron Ore, part of Anglo American, runs the programme through CareerWise. The latest call that we could confirm closed on 19 May 2026, according to a University of the Western Cape notice.

Funding Details
This comprehensive bursary covers tuition, books, accommodation and paid vacation work. The length of your contract depends on your year of study. The notice does not state a total value.
Conditions apply. You must sign a Bursary Loan Agreement with the company, and you must complete vacation work in the Northern Cape. A place on the graduate programme is not guaranteed, because it depends on company needs and your performance. A loan agreement can create repayment duties, so ask exactly when the money becomes repayable and how any work-back would reduce it.

Kumba considered only students who live in or come from the Northern Cape. That rule matters most, because a strong application from another province would not qualify.
