About Mediclinic Bursary

The Mediclinic Bursary helps students pay course fees in nursing, pharmacy and emergency medical care. Mediclinic, a private hospital group in Southern Africa, grants a limited number of these awards. It links the programme to the global shortage of qualified healthcare professionals.

Applications are closed at the moment. Mediclinic's own page states that the bursary is "Not open for applications for 2027 academic year". We therefore show no closing date, and you should check the page again for any future intake.

Funding Details

The bursary goes towards course fees. Mediclinic's page does not give a value, and it does not promise to cover accommodation, meals or books. Budget for those costs separately. The page also does not describe a work-back obligation, so ask about this and read any contract carefully before you accept an award.

Plan early for those extra costs, and look at other funding too, because Mediclinic grants only a limited number of these bursaries.

Where You Can Study

You must hold proof of acceptance or registration at a registered institution that offers your programme. Mediclinic does not limit the external bursary to one named university. It also runs its own Mediclinic Higher Education programmes, which you can explore separately on its site.

Also check that your institution and programme have the right approval from the relevant professional council, because this affects your ability to register and work after you qualify.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply

This healthcare bursary covers three areas of study: nursing, pharmacy and emergency medical care. School leavers and students already in a programme can both be considered. For first-year study, Mediclinic looks at Grade 11 or Grade 12 results, and these must put you in line for entry to a bachelor's programme.

Later-year students submit their programme results to date. Mediclinic also says Employment Equity candidates receive preference, and it takes the financial status of parents or the applicant into account.

Think about which of the three paths suits you. Nurses care for patients on the wards and in clinics. Pharmacists manage medicines and advise on their safe use, and emergency care practitioners respond to urgent cases outside the hospital. Each career has its own entry rules and shift patterns, so speak to someone in the job before you commit.

Application Procedure

Mediclinic takes applications through the "Browse Bursary Opportunities" link on its bursary page. That route is not open for the 2027 academic year. Check the page again for the next intake.
