About Sanlam Bursary

The Sanlam Bursary Programme is run by Sanlam, one of South Africa's largest financial services groups, spanning insurance, investment and financial planning. Sanlam has funded several bursary streams for scarce financial-services skills, most prominently an Actuarial Science bursary for high-performing matriculants and current actuarial science students, alongside an Information Technology bursary for IT-related qualifications.

The Actuarial Science stream is aimed at building a pipeline of qualified actuaries for the group, and includes support toward professional actuarial board exam costs in addition to academic funding, plus mentoring from qualified actuaries within Sanlam and guaranteed employment on graduation.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply

South African citizens studying, or planning to study, full-time at an accredited South African university. For the Actuarial Science stream: either matriculants with a very strong Mathematics result (historically around 90%+) and overall academic average who plan to study actuarial science the following year, or current first-, second- or third-year actuarial science students maintaining strong academic performance. For the IT stream: students registered in an IT-related qualification.
