About Sarb Economics Bursary

The SARB Economics Bursary is a field-specific track of the South African Reserve Bank's External Bursary Scheme, focused specifically on Economics rather than the Bank's full list of supported scarce-skills fields.

Because SARB also runs a broader general External Bursary Scheme covering Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, IT, Law, and other fields (listed separately on this site), Economics applicants specifically should apply here rather than to the general scheme - both share the same core eligibility and closing date, so there's no advantage to submitting both.

Funding Details

The bursary covers tuition and related study costs for undergraduate Economics study.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the general SARB Bursary?

This track is specific to Economics, while SARB's general External Bursary Scheme covers a wider range of fields including Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, IT, and Law.

Should I apply to both?

No, both share the same closing date and core eligibility, so applying to just the one matching your field is sufficient.

Can second-year students apply?

No, it is restricted to students entering first year.

What promo code should I use?

Use the current year's official promo code from SARB's bursary notice - reusing an outdated code from a previous cycle is a common, avoidable rejection reason.
