African Academy is a private technical training college based in Boksburg East Industrial, Gauteng, founded in 1994 to address South Africa's shortage of well-trained draughtspersons. The academy specialises in accredited draughting and design education across civil, electrical and mechanical disciplines, including niche areas such as structural steelwork detailing, architectural technology and piping draughting, delivered through NATED-aligned N4/N5 programmes.
African Academy funds its bursary programme to widen access to its Multi-disciplinary Draughting and Construction & Built Environment courses for students who could not otherwise afford full-time, face-to-face training. The academy reports pass and industry placement rates that have held around 80% for more than two decades, and it assists bursary graduates with placement into the draughting and design industry after they complete their studies.
