Clicks Pharmacy

About Clicks

Clicks is one of South Africa's best-known health, beauty and pharmacy retailers. It runs roughly 900 stores across all provinces, and about 800 of them have an in-store pharmacy. The business belongs to the JSE-listed Clicks Group. Its head office is on the corner of Searle and Pontac Streets in Woodstock, Cape Town.

Millions of customers visit its stores each year. Behind the counters work pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, data analysts, supply chain planners and marketers. Because the group needs these skills, it funds students who study towards them.

How Clicks supports students

The Clicks Foundation bursary is a merit-based programme. It aims to fill scarce and critical skills in the retail and pharmaceutical healthcare industry. Support goes to undergraduate students at South African tertiary institutions, mainly in pharmacy.

The most recent call listed Bachelor of Pharmacy alongside several commerce degrees. These include data science, computer science, information technology, supply chain management, logistics management, business analytics and digital marketing. In other words, Clicks backs the digital and logistics side of retail as well as the pharmacy side.

A bursary covers registration fees, tuition fees and prescribed textbooks. Where needed, it also offers study aids and assistance. It does not pay old student loans or outstanding fees from earlier years. Reports describe the programme as rewarding excellence without attached obligations, so recipients have not had to work back the funding. Even so, confirm this in the current advert.

What to know before applying

Applicants must be South African citizens aged 19 to 35. They must be full-time undergraduates in the second, third or fourth year, depending on the field, and they cannot hold another bursary. A minimum average of 60 percent applied in the 2026 call. Preference goes to applicants with disabilities and to candidates from designated groups.

Students apply through the Clicks Group careers portal. Closing dates change. The pharmacy window has been reported as 1 to 31 August, while the 2026 call listed a closing date of 15 October 2025. Because these dates differ, check the portal for the current schedule.

First-year students normally cannot apply, since the bursary targets those already in their degrees. Prepare your academic record, a certified ID copy and proof of registration early. Strong results and a clear interest in healthcare or retail will help your application stand out.

Pharmacy is a regulated profession. After the degree, graduates complete a period of practical training and then register with the South African Pharmacy Council before they practise on their own. Clicks employs many pharmacists, so a bursary can point you toward a clear career path. However, ask the group whether any job offer follows, since we could not confirm that.
