FASSET, the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority, is one of South Africa's 21 SETAs, responsible for skills development in the finance, accounting, and related professional services sector.
FASSET funds top matric achievers heading into accounting and finance because the sector has an ongoing shortage of qualified professionals, and identifying strong candidates straight out of school builds a longer, more reliable pipeline than only recruiting graduates.
There is no fixed employment work-back contract tied to the bursary. FASSET's mandate is sector-wide skills development, not building a workforce for any single employer.
