PAMSA (the Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa) was established in 1992 and represents more than 90% of South Africa's pulp, paper, board, and tissue manufacturers. It exists to advocate for its members on shared industry issues, including forestry, climate change, recycling, water stewardship, and, from its founding, education and training.
PAMSA funds a Master's in Engineering Bursary & Research Programme to build a pipeline of chemical engineers for South Africa's pulp and paper sector. The programme pairs bursary funding with real, industry-linked research projects on topics such as fibre and process-waste beneficiation, resource efficiency, and bio-based products, aimed at advancing a circular bioeconomy within the industry.
