Petra Diamonds is a diamond mining group with a long history in South Africa. Its best-known operation is the Cullinan mine in Gauteng. The 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond, one of the largest gem-quality stones ever found, was unearthed there in 1905. The group also runs the Finsch mine in the Northern Cape and holds a 49.9% stake in the Kimberley Ekapa Mining joint venture with Ekapa Mining. A Johannesburg office in Bryanston coordinates its Southern African business.

How Petra supports students

Diamond mining needs engineers, metallurgists and other specialists, and these skills are hard to find. The company states that awards can cover mining and non-mining qualifications that benefit the communities and the country.
