The South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL) is the professional body representing patent attorneys, trade mark practitioners and other intellectual property (IP) law professionals in South Africa. Registered as a non-profit organisation, SAIIPL promotes high standards of expertise and ethical practice across patent, trade mark and copyright law.
SAIIPL funds a small number of bursaries each year for LLB and LLM students with a demonstrated interest in IP law, split between a Patent Law track and a Trade Mark and/or Copyright Law track, as well as support for previously disadvantaged junior advocates early in their IP law careers. The programme is aimed at growing the pool of specialist IP law practitioners in South Africa.
