Thermo Fisher Scientific Phambili Trust

The Thermo Fisher Scientific Phambili Trust is a broad-based Black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) trust established by LTC Tech SA, Thermo Fisher Scientific's South African partner. Thermo Fisher Scientific is a global scientific instrumentation and laboratory equipment company; the Trust carries its name as the beneficiary vehicle through which the local partnership channels transformation funding, but it operates as a distinct, independently administered trust rather than a direct programme of the multinational itself.

The Trust's purpose is to help Black South African students develop academically and build careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields, by funding tuition and living costs at partner universities. Since its establishment, the Trust has disbursed several million rand in bursary funding. Day-to-day administration of applications and enquiries is now handled by StudyTrust on the Trust's behalf.
