Wilmar

Wilmar is a Singapore-listed multinational agribusiness group and one of the largest producers of edible oils, fats, and related consumer products in Africa. In South Africa, the group operates through Wilmar Continental Edible Oils and Fats, which crushes, refines, and bottles edible oils for distribution to manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, alongside a major refining plant in the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone.

Wilmar funds its South African bursary programme to build a pipeline of Accounting, Agro-economics, Econometrics, and Engineering graduates for its growing local operations, reflecting the technical and commercial breadth needed to run large-scale agri-processing plants. Since entering Africa in 2000, Wilmar has expanded into 16 countries on the continent, and its South African investment is part of a broader push to grow local manufacturing capacity.

The bursary specifically targets final-year students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, tying the company's local skills investment directly to South Africa's broader transformation goals.
