How to Apply to Sol Plaatje University

You apply to Sol Plaatje University (SPU) online through its student online system, and there is no application fee for online applications. For the 2027 academic year, undergraduate and postgraduate applications were open until 31 October 2026.

Step 1: Start your application

Go to Study@SPU on the SPU website, then How to apply, to find the online application guide and the student online system. Read the online application rules and accept them. Then capture and save your biographical details. The system gives you a reference number, which becomes your student number.

Step 2: Enter your school details

SPU's application FAQs explain the main fields:

• Activity last year: if you are in Grade 12, select Grade 11
• Matriculation type: use your Grade 11 results as a guide, and choose the bachelor's pass option if most of your marks are level 4 or higher
• School: search using the first five letters of your school's name
• Subjects: type in your percentages as they appear on your report, then click Save

Step 3: Upload your documents

Click Certificates Seen and upload each document, pressing Save after each upload. If you are in Grade 12, you need a certified copy of your ID and your final Grade 11 results. If you have finished matric, you also need an affidavit declaring whether you have studied at a university or college since school. If you studied elsewhere, upload your academic transcript and a certificate of conduct instead.

Step 4: Choose your programmes

Click Submit Application and search for your programme using abbreviations without spaces, such as BED, BA or BSC, or HCERT and DIP for certificates and diplomas. Check the SPU admission requirements page first.

Applied before?

If the system says your ID number already exists, log in as a registered user with your previous application number and request a PIN. If you have forgotten the number, use Forgot Student Number.

Contact details

Use the Personal Contact Details and Address Validation link to capture your next of kin's cellphone number and address. SPU needs these in case of an emergency. If your email address has changed since an earlier application, ask the Admissions Office to update your profile.

After you apply

Check your academic admission status online. SPU usually emails firm offers shortly after the matric results are released, and you accept the offer on the student iEnabler system. In 2026, first-year students could register online from 26 January.
