About AgriSETA Bursary
The AgriSETA Bursary funds agriculture-related study through the SETA's discretionary grant window, rather than through a normal student application. AgriSETA offered bursaries for employed and unemployed learners in its 2027/2028 window. That window ran from 1 August 2026 to 15 September 2026, so it has now closed.
Your next step is to watch for the following window, which usually means looking at the SETA's site from the middle of the year. Meanwhile, ask your institution or employer whether they hold AgriSETA funding.
Funding Details
The 2027/2028 advert sets the bursary value at R70,800 per learner, for undergraduate and postgraduate study alike. All expenses fall within that combined maximum. So you need to work out how far it stretches across your tuition, books and living costs.
AgriSETA does not fund repeat modules, and continuing learners must include their latest statement of account from their institution. The advert does not mention a work-back. If an employer or institution manages your bursary, ask them whether they have added any conditions of their own.
If you are working, speak to your employer first, because levy-paying companies can apply on behalf of their staff. If you are unemployed, ask your institution's bursary office whether it knows of AgriSETA funding for your course, and when it plans to apply.
Where You Can Study
Funding starts at NQF Level 6, which generally means a diploma or degree. The exception is for Nated courses at public TVET colleges and agricultural TVET colleges, which can also qualify. The advert does not list specific universities, so your institution should check that your qualification meets these rules.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply
The rules differ for two groups. For unemployed learners, AgriSETA supports agriculture-related qualifications only. Levy-paying companies can apply for other qualifications for their employees, as long as those qualifications match the sector's priority occupations list.
The advert says that first-year learners are encouraged to apply. Learners who received funding in the previous year must apply again as continuing learners for the same qualification. They also need at least 50% of their registered modules to qualify.
AgriSETA does not fund short courses, such as National Certificates and other certificates. So this bursary suits people working towards a full qualification at NQF Level 6 or above, or a Nated course at a public college.
Application Procedure
Check the AgriSETA learning programmes page for the next advert. In the 2027/2028 window, applications for bursaries went to 2027BU@agriseta.co.za, and the advert named separate contacts for new and continuing bursaries. Expect those details to change with the next window, so use the address in the current advert.
Applications for this cycle have closed. Check the provider's site for the next intake.
