About FSCA Bursary for Students with Disabilities
The FSCA Bursary for Students with Disabilities funds undergraduate study in business, data, economics, finance and law. The Financial Sector Conduct Authority, South Africa's financial market conduct regulator, offered it for the 2026 academic year. That call closed on 31 August 2025.
We could not find a 2027 call, so treat this disability bursary as closed for now. The terms below come from a published copy of the advert with reference DIS 2026/29. Check the FSCA website for a new round, and confirm every detail there before you apply.
Funding Details
The award covered registration and tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, accommodation and meals, plus a monthly allowance for incidental costs. It also paid for supportive learning devices, such as a wheelchair, ZoomText, JAWS, a computer or a device that a doctor recommends. Funding ran for the entire qualification.
The award also included work-back. After graduating, recipients signed a contract to work for the FSCA for the same length of time as their funding. They also received experiential learning during and after their studies. Ask how the FSCA would support your access needs at work, so that you can plan ahead.
Compare this award with any support that your university's disability unit already offers. Keep your doctor's letter up to date, and ask your doctor to name the devices that you need, since the advert allowed medically recommended devices. Also keep your income documents in one folder, so that you can apply quickly when a new call opens.
Where You Can Study
You needed a place at a recognised South African university or another accredited higher learning institution. The advert did not name specific universities. Contact the disability unit at your chosen university early, since it can tell you what other support is available on campus.

View full provider profile →Fields of Study & Who Can Apply
This bursary was for South African citizens living with a disability. Applicants had to be in Matric or have completed it, and they had to study or plan to study full-time at undergraduate level.
The fields were Business Management, Data Science, Economics (BCom), Finance (BCom) and Law (LLB). A doctor's letter had to confirm a permanent disability.
These fields match the work of a financial regulator. Finance and economics graduates study markets, law graduates work on rules and enforcement, and data scientists look for patterns in large sets of information. Use your motivational letter to explain your interest in this work. You can also describe the support you need to study well, because this bursary was designed with that support in mind.
Application Procedure
Applicants applied online through the FSCA's recruitment portal and quoted the reference for that call. Only shortlisted candidates heard back. Look for a new reference on the FSCA website, because the old one has expired.
Applications for this cycle have closed. Check the provider's site for the next intake.
