About Silulumanzi Bursary
The Silulumanzi Bursary helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study for careers in the water sector. Silulumanzi, which provides water services in the City of Mbombela, runs this external scheme. Published copies of the 2027 advert give a closing date of 30 November 2026.
The company's own page still shows its previous round, so confirm the date and form with its Mbombela office. This bursary suits students who want to stay close to home and work in engineering or water treatment.
Funding Details
Copies of the advert say that the bursary covers registration fees, tuition, accommodation, and prescribed books or study materials. They give no fixed rand value. The award lasts for one year, and you can renew it each year if your academic results are good enough.
Consider the work-back before you accept. Silulumanzi's own page says that recipients may be expected to work for the company after graduation, if suitable vacancies exist at that time. The advert copies also describe an internship linked to the years funded, so ask for the exact period in writing.
Selection may take your family's finances into account, since the scheme assists students from disadvantaged backgrounds. So include clear proof of household income. Also remember that a renewal depends on your results each year, so an award in your first year does not guarantee later funding.
Where You Can Study
Copies of the advert refer to accredited South African tertiary institutions, and you must show proof of admission or acceptance. They do not name a list of universities. Since some fields are diplomas or trades, ask the company whether your college qualifies.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply
The scheme looks for students who are studying, or plan to study, in fields that a water utility needs. Copies of the advert list BSc degrees in electrical, chemical, civil and mechanical engineering, along with information technology, quantity surveying and biology.
Technical students also have a route. The same copies name National Diplomas in Environmental Science and Water Care, and programmes such as fitting, millwright, fitter and turner, and instrumentation mechanical work.
Preference goes to South African citizens in the company's concession areas, including Mbombela, KaNyamazane, Matsulu and Mataffin. It also goes to previously disadvantaged people, women and people with disabilities. Meeting the minimum rules does not guarantee an award, because the scheme is competitive.
Application Procedure
This is a paper application. Ask for the current form at a Silulumanzi customer care office, or see the company's training page. Copies of the advert say that you can post it to The Bursary Department, Human Resources, P.O. Box 12753, Mbombela, 1200, or deliver it to an office in KaNyamazane, Matsulu or Mbombela.
