About SATI Table Grape Bursary

The SATI Table Grape Bursary funds people who want careers in South Africa's table grape industry or its wider value chain. The South African Table Grape Industry runs it from Paarl. SATI's page currently shows the form for the 2026 academic year, and it gives no closing date for a new round.

Past rounds closed before the new academic year, and SATI tells applicants to assume they were unsuccessful if they hear nothing by mid-January. So check the page regularly from the second half of each year.

Funding Details

Funding depends on the available budget and on approval by SATI's chief executive. An award may cover part or all of your study fees, accommodation and living costs. So do not assume full cover until you receive your agreement.

You sign a bursary agreement if SATI selects you. SATI reviews each bursary annually, and you must send academic progress reports every quarter. If your progress is not satisfactory, it may suspend or end your funding. Its current page does not mention a work-back, so ask about this before you sign.

SATI may also decline to award bursaries without prior notice, and any award depends on your final results from the previous year.

Where You Can Study

You must study at a registered South African tertiary institution, and you need an acceptance letter or preliminary acceptance. SATI does not name specific universities or colleges. This gives you room to choose, as long as your institution is accredited and your course fits the industry.

Fields of Study & Who Can Apply

This bursary suits anyone who can link their studies to table grapes. That can include viticulture and agricultural science, but the industry also needs people in other parts of its value chain. SATI does not publish a fixed list, because you agree your discipline with the organisation.

Full-time and part-time students can both apply. SATI prefers South African students, and it prefers those who are entering their second year or higher, although first-years are not excluded. Average results are enough to qualify, since the page asks for at least a D.

Postgraduate students face an extra step. You must submit a research proposal, and SATI's Research Manager assesses it against the organisation's needs. Projects that relate directly to the industry receive preference.

Application Procedure

Read the guidelines on the SATI bursaries page, then complete the online form that it links to. SATI disqualifies incomplete forms, so attach everything before you submit. For questions, email info@satgi.co.za or call 021 863 0366.
