About Deloitte South Africa
Deloitte is one of the world's largest professional services networks. In South Africa it offers audit and assurance, tax, risk and regulatory, consulting, financial advisory and legal services, and it serves clients in many industries. It is also one of the country's main training grounds for chartered accountants, and it takes in graduates every year to complete their training contracts.
That training role matters to students, because a South African chartered accountant must complete a structured period of articles with an accredited employer after the academic qualification. Deloitte builds its student funding around that pathway.
How Deloitte supports students
Deloitte's main funding route is the Financial Contribution Fund. It helps students who want to become chartered accountants, and it is linked to a Deloitte training contract. If Deloitte awards you a training contract, you can apply for a financial contribution, and the amount depends on your academic performance, your motivation and your financial need.
The money goes directly to the SAICA-accredited institution, where it pays for tuition and academic materials first. Anything left over goes towards accommodation. Awards can be renewed each year, based on your academic performance, for the full length of undergraduate and postgraduate study. You can read the details on our Deloitte Financial Contribution Fund page.
Deloitte also runs graduate programmes and vacation work. Its vacation programme, called VIBE, is open to students whose transcripts show an average of at least 60%, and it gives you a look at the firm before you apply for a training contract.
What to know before applying
You apply for the training contract first, because funding follows it. Deloitte's process includes an online profile, uploaded documents, an assessment centre and then an offer, and funding is one of the last steps. The page lists separate timelines for matric, undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, so check the one that fits you.
Awards are renewed each year on your academic performance, so keep your marks up. For funding questions, email zafunding@deloitte.co.za, and use only the application links on the Deloitte website.
Start with the student pages on the Deloitte website, which describe each programme and its timeline. Choose the route that matches your stage of study, because the matric, undergraduate and postgraduate paths have different dates. Keep your academic record up to date and apply early in the window.
Because funding follows the training contract, read the contract steps carefully. A well-prepared profile and a complete set of documents make the process smoother for you and for the firm.
