Tharisa is a diversified mining group dual-listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE), producing platinum group metals (PGMs) and chrome from its Tharisa Mine near Marikana, in the Bojanala Platinum District of North West province, South Africa.
Under its Social and Labour Plan (SLP), Tharisa runs education and skills-development programmes for communities around its mine, including bursaries, learnerships and internships in mining-related fields, alongside broader corporate social investment covering basic infrastructure, literacy and poverty-alleviation initiatives.
