About SARB Art Scholarship
The SARB Art Scholarship is run by the South African Reserve Bank for financially needy South African students pursuing Fine Arts qualifications - a distinct programme from the Bank's general External Bursary Scheme, and open to a much narrower academic level: final undergraduate year through to Master's or an eligible Advanced Diploma.
The application asks for 6 to 8 images of artwork produced in the two years before you apply, plus a 300-word artist statement - selectors are assessing your actual creative output, not just your academic transcript, so treat the artwork selection with the same care as the written parts of the application. Choose pieces that show range and technical growth over the two-year window, not just your strongest single piece repeated in different media.
