Students at Nelson Mandela University use the Student Portal for their accounts and administration, a student email account for official communication, and the Student Admission Tracking dashboard while they apply. The guidance below comes from the university's 2026 student accounts guide and its application guidelines.
The Student Admission Tracking dashboard
Before you register, track your application on this dashboard, using the student number and PIN the university sends you once your application is processed. You can also reset a forgotten PIN there.
The Student Portal
Registered students can access their student accounts on the Student Portal, logging in with their secured PIN number.
Student enquiry kiosks
At all the Gqeberha campuses, information kiosks let students print their own financial statements. They also offer exam results, exam timetables, proof of registration, progress reports and full academic records.
Your username and email
Each student automatically receives a username made up of a prefix followed by the student number, such as s followed by your number. Your university email address uses the same format, and it is also your email login username.
Your first password
Your proof of registration and initial password for all services are printed on the confirmation of registration form issued at registration. All passwords are case-sensitive.
Resetting your password
Use the university's self-service password reset website. You must enrol on the site first, and then you can use Reset Password whenever you need it.
Official communication
The university emails official communication only to your student email address, not to any other address. Correspondence sent by email is deemed received, so check your student email regularly.
Internet, printing and data centres
The university's ICT department provides email, internet access, printing, copying and data centres to registered students. A username and password control access to all these services, under the university's rules and regulations.
Keep your details current
Keep your cellphone number and email up to date, because selection outcomes come by SMS and email. Never share your PIN or password with anyone.
What you can check online
Between the Student Portal and the kiosks, you can see your financial statement, exam results and timetable, proof of registration, progress report and full academic record, so you rarely need to queue at an office.
Paying fees
Use your student number as the reference when you pay, and check your account on the Student Portal or at a kiosk.
