After you apply to the University of Cape Town (UCT), you can monitor the status of your application online, and UCT emails you whenever it updates your application. The guidance below comes from UCT's application process pages and its undergraduate resources.
Watch your email
When UCT updates your application, it sends you an email. Monitor your email account closely. UCT is not permitted to disclose your application information to anyone else, so keep your own contact details current.
Your login details
After you apply, UCT sends you login credentials. Your user ID is your student number, in upper case, and your password is the network password sent to you by UCT's Admissions Office.
How to check your status
- Log in to UCT's student administration self-service, which runs on PeopleSoft.
- Open the Admissions tile.
- Select the Admissions Status tab to see where each of your applications stands.
Submitting documents
If UCT asks for documents, submit them as certified electronic copies to admissions@uct.ac.za. Do not send them to any other email address, because this only delays processing.
The application fee
UCT does not refund application fees, and paying the fee does not mean you will be offered a place. You can pay by direct deposit, EFT or credit card. In 2027, the fee was R100 for applicants from South Africa and the SADC region, and R300 for applicants from outside SADC.
Housing status
If you applied for residence on your application, you can also track your housing application on the self-service portal. UCT makes offers to eligible applicants and then allocates them to specific residences.
Conditional and final offers
UCT assesses your Grade 11 final and Grade 12 preliminary results for early decisions, and your final Grade 12 results for final decisions. All applicants who live or attend school in South Africa must write the NBTs by 3 October 2026 and include their NBT registration number on the application.
Funding status
UCT's status page shows your academic application. Track your NSFAS funding separately on the myNSFAS portal. NSFAS usually finalises its decisions around the time the NSC results are released.
Closing dates for 2027
Undergraduate applications for 2027 closed on 31 July 2026, and portfolios were due by 31 August 2026. Health Sciences applicants who wanted a conditional offer had to write the NBTs by 31 July 2026. Those who wrote later are considered only in early 2027, after their final results.
Getting help
If you cannot log in, consult UCT's student self-service help documentation or email sss-helpdesk@uct.ac.za. See the UCT student portal page for password help.
