After you apply to the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT), you can track the progress of your submission and view your current application status online. The guidance below comes from CUT's application process page and its Ask CUT support site.
Check your application status
CUT's application process page has a Check Application Status link, where you track your submission and see its current status. Check it regularly, especially after the final matric results are released, because CUT updates your status as faculties make decisions.
The correction queue
If your application has missing, uncertified or incorrect documents, CUT moves it into a correction queue. This delays processing a great deal, while complete applications keep moving forward. If CUT's Enrolment Services Team asks for documents, log back in, upload them in the document section of your active application and save.
Certified documents
All certified copies must be certified within the last three months. Current matriculants upload their final Grade 11 results, or Grade 12 June results if available. CUT receives matric certificates directly from Umalusi once they are released.
Selection tests
If CUT tells you to write a selection test, register for a date with the Wellness Centre. If no one has told you to write the test, you do not need to. The Wellness Centre sends results to the faculties within about a week.
Your two choices
You must select a first and a second programme choice, so that you have an alternative if your first choice is full.
Registration dates
In 2026, first-year students registered online from 19 to 23 January, and senior students from 27 to 30 January. Late registrations and changes were only allowed during the set course control week.
Payment before registration
Self-funded South Africans paid a minimum initial payment of R5,260 in 2026, or R8,870 with a residence. NSFAS-funded students on the funded list were exempt.
No late applications
For 2027, undergraduate applications closed on 30 September 2026. CUT does not accept late or walk-in applications under any circumstances.
Avoid scams
Applying to CUT is free, and there are no authorised external consultants. Do not pay anyone claiming to represent CUT.
Residence status
Your academic status does not include residence. Once accepted, apply for residence separately, and stay in touch with Residence Administration if you are on the waiting list.
Getting help
CUT's Ask CUT support site answers common questions about applications and the student portal. You can also call CUT's central line on 051 507 3911. See the CUT student portal page.
