The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) publishes its undergraduate programme information online, with a programmes offered page, individual programme pages, an online course calculator and an admission points page. CUT asks applicants to visit its programmes pages for full details on programmes and admission requirements. Here is what these sources contain and how to use them.
Programmes offered
CUT's programmes pages list every qualification by faculty, from higher certificates and diplomas to advanced diplomas and degrees. Each programme page shows the campus, the duration, the admission requirements and the minimum Admission Point Score.
CUT's faculties
- Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology
- Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences
- Faculty of Humanities
- Faculty of Management Sciences
The course calculator
CUT's online course calculator lists the minimum points for each programme. It shows, for example, 32 points for the Bachelor of Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Construction degrees, 30 for health science degrees such as Radiography and Clinical Technology, and 27 for most diplomas and the BEd degrees.
The admission points page
CUT's admission points page explains its scoring scale, from 8 points for 90% to 100% down to 2 for 30% to 39%, with Life Orientation counting for a maximum of 1 point. It also explains the matric pass levels and what different scores mean: 27 or more meets the general minimum, 22 to 26 may lead to a selection test, and 21 or less means no admission.
