Walter Sisulu University Student Portal (iEnabler)

Reviewed by Makona Mandla · Last checked 5 November 2026

Walter Sisulu University (WSU) uses its Student Portal, the iEnabler, for online registration, residence applications and student administration. Registration at WSU is an online process, done off campus. The steps below come from WSU's 2026 online registration guide.

Step 1: Open the portal

Go to the WSU website and click the Student Portal link to open the online registration portal.

Step 2: Log in

Select Student, then type your student number and PIN. Click Login if you know your PIN, or Request a PIN to have it sent to your registered email address. If you forgot your PIN, click Reset PIN and enter your student number, ID or passport number and full name. If they are correct, your PIN appears on screen.

Step 3: Academic registration

Select Academic Registration from the left menu. Check Registration Restrictions for any issues, even if you are fully accepted. Then read the Rules and Regulations and click I Accept. This acceptance is compulsory and serves as your electronic signature.

Step 4: Choose your subjects

  • Select Submit Registration and check your qualification details.
  • Complete all fields marked with an asterisk, including your employment status.
  • Tick your subjects. Subjects whose prerequisites you have not met show a red button.
  • Verify your subjects for the whole year.

You can print your registration or cost details, but you are not registered until you click Accept Registration.

Step 5: Proof of registration

Select Proof of Registration to print it. Check that it shows the correct academic year, personal details, subjects and qualification, and save it.

Step 6: Your student card

On campus, take your saved proof of registration to the student card printing station to get your student card.

Check your proof carefully

Make sure your proof of registration shows the right period, course, offering type, campus, subject codes, exam dates and the spelling of your name. Corrections must be made before the amendment cut-off date, which ran from 2 February to 2 March in 2026.

Funding on the portal

Your funding status may also appear on the portal. If it ever differs from your NSFAS portal, the NSFAS status takes precedence, so check both before you register.

Residence applications

WSU also uses the iEnabler for residence applications, where you show your interest in accommodation for the year.

Getting help

If you have trouble registering online while off campus, contact your campus. For Mthatha, email applicationsmth@wsu.ac.za or call 047 502 2448. See the WSU application status page, or read the WSU overview.
