Fort Hare Application Status

Reviewed by Makona Mandla · Last checked 5 November 2026

After you apply to the University of Fort Hare (UFH), you can check your application status by logging into the online application portal, and Fort Hare also contacts applicants by SMS or email. The guidance below comes from Fort Hare's admission pages and its application FAQs.

How to check your status

Log in to the Fort Hare online application portal, called the Student Web Online Application System, to track your admission status. Check it regularly for updates, because the portal is where Fort Hare posts changes to your application.

Through the student portal

Fort Hare's support FAQ describes the path to your applications: go to the Student Portal, then Student iEnabler, then Student Application, and choose Show Academic Applications.

SMS and email

Fort Hare may also tell you about your application status by SMS or email, so make sure your cellphone number and email address are correct and check them often.

Pay the application fee

The application fee is R120 for South African applicants and is not refundable. Fort Hare processes your application only once it receives the fee, and applications without payment are generally not considered. Keep your proof of payment for any queries.

Conditional offers

You can apply with your Grade 12 mid-year or June results. If Fort Hare accepts you, your admission may be conditional on your final NSC results, so keep checking your status after the results are released in January.

Closing dates

For the 2027 intake, undergraduate applications closed on 31 October 2026. Fort Hare charges a late application fee for applications that arrive after the closing date, and popular programmes may already be full.

Applying for more than one programme

You can apply for more than one programme at Fort Hare, and each one may show its own status. Check the campus for each programme, because Alice, Bhisho and East London teach different fields.

Residence status

Residence space is limited and not guaranteed. Fort Hare's FAQ says residence applications go through the NSFAS Accommodation Portal, so follow your accommodation status there.

If something goes wrong

If you have problems with your application, such as difficulties with the online portal or missing documents, contact Fort Hare's Admissions Office for help. Have your student or application number ready.

Postgraduate closing dates

For 2027, honours and master's applications also closed on 31 October 2026, while PhD applications close on 31 March 2027.

International applicants

International applicants also need a SAQA evaluation and a matriculation exemption certificate, so their status may take longer to finalise.
