How to check your status
Log in to the NWU online application portal with your email address, which is your username, and your password. Your application status appears on your profile dashboard. If you forget your password, use the Forgot Password link on the application portal and follow the instructions.
What the statuses mean
- Application Submitted: your application has been sent to NWU and is under review.
- Application Verified: NWU has confirmed the information you submitted, including your academic qualifications and documents, and your application has been reviewed and accepted on this basis.
Conditional offers
A conditional offer means NWU assessed your Grade 11 results and found that you meet the minimum requirements and any selection criteria for your course. To secure final acceptance, you must achieve similar results in your final National Senior Certificate.
Accept within 15 days
You have 15 days to accept your conditional offer. NWU recommends accepting as soon as possible, so that you can move on to residence placement and your fee quotation.
How long it takes
NWU aims to give feedback promptly, but the assessment process varies from faculty to faculty. So keep checking your dashboard rather than waiting for a set date.
Changing your application
Once you submit your application, changing it is difficult, because the admissions process starts immediately. If your application is unsuccessful, you cannot change your course, because you can apply only once per academic year. So review everything carefully before you submit.
Your two choices
NWU accepts you into only one course. If your second choice is accepted, you will not be considered for your first choice.
Documents and contact details
Upload your ID and your final Grade 11 or Grade 12 results, each scanned separately in a format such as PDF or JPEG. Use your own valid email address, because NWU uses it as your username and for all communication about your application. NWU also has an SMS line, 31750, for enquiries.
Final decisions
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. NWU's admission decision is final, and no appeals are allowed.
