Closing date

Undergraduate and postgraduate applications for the 2027 academic year were open until 31 October 2026. Contact your faculty to ask whether late applications are considered.

How to apply

  1. Read the postgraduate prospectus for your programme's requirements.
  2. Check with the postgraduate coordinator whether your programme needs a letter of motivation.
  3. Apply online through SPU's application system.
  4. Upload your official academic transcript, a copy of your degree or diploma, and a certified copy of your ID.

SPU cannot process applications without supporting documents, so missing documents delay your application.

Application fee

There is none. SPU's FAQ states that no application fee is required to apply online.

For a research master's, contact the department before you apply to discuss your topic and whether a supervisor is available. SPU also advertises postdoctoral research fellowships, such as in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.

Funding

For honours and master's funding, apply to external funders such as the National Research Foundation, using their own deadlines, and ask your faculty about other opportunities.
