After you apply to Stellenbosch University (SU), you track your documents and application on the SU applicant portal. SU emails you whenever your document status or application status changes. The guidance below comes from SU's how to apply pages.
Create your profile
You start by creating an online profile, with a valid email address and phone number. Once your profile exists, follow the system prompts and email communication. Application communication goes to the email address you applied with, and it is also available on your applicant portal.
Track your status
Log in to the applicant portal to see your document status and your application status. SU confirms receipt of your application and sends a message every time either status is updated, so check both your email and the portal regularly.
Complete your documents
SU can only consider your application if you submit all the required documents by the closing date, and you cannot submit your application until all documents are provided. If any document is unclear or incorrect, SU cannot review your application. Also state correctly whether you were ever registered at any tertiary institution, including SU, or your application, admission or registration may be cancelled.
The application fee
After you submit, you pay an application fee. International undergraduate applicants pay R400. Depending on the quintile of your school, South African applicants may be exempt, in which case the payment page shows an application fee of R0.00.
Conditional and final offers
If you apply with Grade 11 results, SU may make an offer on condition that you pass your final NSC or equivalent and meet the programme's requirements. Once you matriculate, SU receives your NSC or IEB results from the Department of Basic Education to consider you for a final offer. International curriculum applicants upload their final results when they receive them.
Accepting an offer
- You may receive more than one offer, because SU considers all three of your choices.
- You can accept only one offer at a time. Accepting a second or third offer replaces the previous one.
- SU tells you the cut-off date to accept when it makes an offer.
- When you accept your first offer, you must upload a signed Student Contract, only once.
Closing dates for 2027
Undergraduate and residence applications closed on 31 July 2026. Law applicants had to write the NBT before the end of July.
