All applicants to the University of Venda (Univen) apply online, and you can follow the progress and outcome of your application online with your details. The guidance below comes from Univen's how to apply page and its application FAQs.
Before you apply
You need a valid South African ID or passport, a working cellphone number and an email address. While you apply, you create a 5-digit PIN. Keep it safe, because you use it for future access to your application.
Your student number
After you submit successfully, Univen issues you a student number. Keep it, because you need it for every future enquiry to the university.
Saving your application
You can save your application and return later to complete any remaining information. Before you click Submit, check that everything has been captured and that your supporting documents are uploaded as clear PDF copies.
Check your application status
Univen's application journey has a step called Check Your Application Status. Use your details there to follow the progress and outcome of your application. Check regularly for updates and for any request for missing documents.
Documents Univen needs
- Grade 12 learners: your ID or passport and your Grade 11 final results, stamped by your school
- Students at another institution: your academic record and a certificate of good conduct
- International applicants: a study and residence permit, medical insurance and a SAQA evaluation
Once you are admitted
Once admitted, review the registration requirements and complete your registration online. Self-funded students pay a registration amount of R5,000, while students with NSFAS or another bursary show proof of funding.
Returning students
Returning Univen students use the iEnabler process and follow the instructions for continuing their studies.
Closing date and fee
Univen's 2026 fees booklet gave 30 September 2026 as the closing date for 2027 applications, and said that no application fee applies to 2027 applications.
Funding status
Univen's status page covers your academic application. Track NSFAS funding separately on the NSFAS website, using your own NSFAS reference number.
Changes to dates
Univen notes that closing dates and programme requirements can change between admission cycles, so check the current notice before relying on a date.
Getting help
Univen lists application and student administration contacts by faculty on its how to apply page. For example, Fhatuwani Mulidzi supports the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, and Health Sciences. Include your student number when you email.
