How to use it
- Calculate your points for your top six subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
- Find your programme and check its minimum points and compulsory subjects.
- Note the CAO code for your application.
- Read the selection procedure, because many departments rank applicants and some add interviews or portfolios.
- Apply through the CAO by the closing date.
Fees in the guide
DUT shows 2026 module fees to help you plan, noting that 2027 fees were not yet final. For example, the Accounting Bridging Course cost R15,000 in 2026.
The How to Apply 2027 guide
The How to Apply guide explains the CAO application, the R250 fee for South Africans, the documents you need, NSFAS applications and the minimum entrance requirements for 2027.
Closing date
Most applications had to reach the CAO by 30 September 2026, and some programmes closed earlier.
Residence information
Study Opportunities also explains residence placement: only applicants who live 30 km or more from DUT qualify, you indicate your need on the CAO form, and Student Housing emails an application link once you accept a firm offer.
NC(V) entry
For diplomas, NC(V) level 4 holders need at least 50% in three fundamental subjects including English and 60% in three vocational subjects. For degrees, they need 60% and 70%.
Funding information
The guide explains NSFAS eligibility and DUT's scholarships, such as a 100% tuition remission for new students with an NSC aggregate of 80% or more.
