First-time undergraduates apply to the University of Zululand (UNIZULU) through the Central Applications Office (CAO), so you follow your application status on the CAO website. Once you have a firm offer, you move to UNIZULU's iEnabler. The guidance below comes from UNIZULU's registration FAQs.
Check your status on the CAO website
UNIZULU's FAQs answer most status questions the same way: log in to the CAO website for an update on your application. This applies if:
- You want a response about your application
- You applied through the CAO and have not heard back
- Your application says it is waiting for a decision
- You want to know who can help with your status
Late applications and changes
The CAO also handles late applications, late application fees and changes of mind, including changing your programme choice. Check the CAO website for these.
Firm and conditional offers
You can accept only a firm offer, not a conditional one. Once you receive a firm offer, log in to iEnabler on the UNIZULU website and click the Accept Offer link. If you have a problem accepting it, log a query through UNIZULU's query form.
Upload your documents
After accepting, upload your documents on iEnabler using the Upload Document link. You need a certified copy of your ID, a certified copy of your NSC or matric statement, and proof of residence. International students also need a valid study permit, proof of medical cover and a certified copy of their passport.
Student number problems
If you have not received a student number, or need to know how to get one, log a query through UNIZULU's online query form.
Registration
UNIZULU tells you when you have been admitted and can register. In 2026, first-time entering students registered from 26 to 30 January, and lectures started on Monday, 9 February 2026.
After registration
In 2026, orientation for first-time entering students ran from 2 to 6 February, and returning and postgraduate students registered in the same week. Check UNIZULU's registration portal for the current year's dates.
The CAO fee
UNIZULU's 2026 brochure lists the CAO application fee as R250. Your CAO status can only update once the CAO has your application and fee.
Gap year students
If you took a gap year or are returning to UNIZULU, you use the Returning Student Application Form. For 2026, it had to be completed by 31 October 2025.
Getting help
For application questions, contact the CAO on 031 268 4444. For questions after your firm offer, log a query with UNIZULU. See the UNIZULU student portal page.
