After you apply to the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), you can check your admission status online using your ID number. The steps below come from TUT's 2027 General Information for First Year Enrolment.
How to check your status
- Visit the TUT website.
- Click on Study@TUT.
- Select Check Your Status.
- Enter your ID number in the required field.
- Click Submit.
A new screen shows your reference number and your admission status. Where a letter is available, you can view and print a copy of it.
Provisional admission
You can apply to TUT with your Grade 11 results or your mid-year Grade 12 results. TUT may then grant you provisional admission, pending your final Grade 12 results. Keep checking your status after the final results are released, because your offer depends on them.
Before you apply
A status check only works once TUT has your complete application. Make sure you:
- Have all your documents ready before you go online
- Create your own email address, and do not use anyone else's
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of R240 for 2027, using your ID number as the reference
- Upload a certified copy of your ID and your NSC, or your final Grade 11 results if you are in Grade 12
Why a programme may be full
TUT warns that a programme may close at any time once it is full, even if its deadline has not passed. Admission also depends on available capacity under TUT's student enrolment plan, and TUT does not admit anyone to a programme without first evaluating their application.
Alternative qualifications
If you have an alternative or international qualification, such as the IGCSE, NSSC or IB, TUT evaluates it before deciding. Acceptance on these qualifications is also subject to available capacity under the student enrolment plan, so your status may take longer to update.
Your online account
When you apply online, your password must be 6 to 12 characters long, with a mix of numbers and letters, one special character and one uppercase letter. Keep your password and reference number safe, because you need them for any query about your application.
Residence status
If you asked for accommodation, TUT notifies successful residence applicants from November that they have been provisionally placed. You must then register online in the residence after your academic registration.
Getting help
TUT's Contact Centre answers questions about applications by phone, SMS and email.
- Phone: 086 110 2421
- Email: general@tut.ac.za
- SMS: send the word TUT, your name, programme and email address to 30655
NSFAS status
TUT's status page shows your academic admission only. Track your NSFAS funding application separately on the NSFAS website, using your NSFAS reference number. Read more on the TUT bursaries page.
