Students at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) use several online systems: the TUT student portal, the TUT4life email account and myTUTor, TUT's online learning system. One set of TUT4life credentials gives you access to most of them. The guidance below comes from TUT's TUT4life and myTUTor login guides.
Set up your TUT4life account
- Go to the TUT4life website in a supported browser.
- Click Reset my Password.
- Enter your student number, your ID or passport number and your ITS PIN, then click Submit.
- Change the password to your own, following the password rules on screen.
- Confirm your new password, then wait two minutes for it to synchronise.
After three unsuccessful attempts to enter a valid student number, ID or passport number and ITS PIN, your account locks for 20 minutes. Your password expires after 90 days.
What TUT4life gives you
TUT4life gives you Microsoft 365 apps, including your email, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. You also use your TUT4life credentials for myTUTor, the Eduroam Wi-Fi network, computers in the i-Centres and other TUT systems. Your email address is your student number followed by @tut4life.ac.za.
Reading your email
- Go to the TUT4life website and click Access my Email.
- Enter your TUT4life email address and password.
- Set up your primary multi-factor authentication method.
- Click Outlook to open your emails.
Logging in to myTUTor
myTUTor is where you find your online learning material. Log in with your TUT4life email address as the username and your own password. TUT recommends using Firefox or Chrome.
Connecting to Eduroam
To connect to the Eduroam Wi-Fi network, use your TUT4life email address as the username and your TUT4life password. Choose the PEAP method, and accept the server certificate to connect. You must be in an Eduroam hotspot.
Managing your password
You can also change and manage your password with the TUT Password Manager app, available on the Play Store and the App Store.
Your student number matters
Your student number is the key to every TUT system, from your email address to myTUTor and Eduroam. Keep it, and your ITS PIN, somewhere safe.
The student portal
The official TUT student portal has its own login page and a Forgot password link. Use it for student services, and keep your contact details up to date.
