After you apply to the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), you monitor your application online and then register through the ITS iEnabler. The guidance below comes from VUT's how to apply page, its registration information and its international office FAQs.
Check your application status
VUT's how to apply page has a Check Application Status link, and asks applicants to monitor their application progress regularly. International applicants can also follow their progress through the Prospective Student section of VUT's website.
How VUT selects
VUT's initial selection is based on your final Grade 11 or latest Grade 12 results. Meeting the minimum subjects and levels does not guarantee acceptance, because places are limited to each programme's quota.
Applications that match your results
If you have already received your final matric results, the application system shows only the qualifications you are eligible for, by matching your results to the right programmes.
The application fee
For 2027, you paid the R110 application fee on the application portal before the system let you submit. If your status is not updating, check that the fee was processed.
Registration is first come, first served
VUT registers students on a first come, first served basis, within each programme's quota. Accepting an offer does not automatically guarantee registration, so register as soon as you can once registration opens.
Registration dates
In 2026, first-time entrants registered from 22 January until quotas were filled. Late registrations, additions and cancellations ran from 2 to 6 February.
Documents to submit
With your application, submit a certified copy of your ID and your results. International applicants submit certified copies of their complete results. Proof of address is not compulsory. Application forms without proof of payment are not accepted.
Closing dates for 2027
VUT's application page gave 30 October 2026 for national applicants and 30 September 2026 for international applicants, while its requirements leaflet listed 30 September. Several programmes, such as the BEd and the diplomas in IT, Policing and Human Resources, closed on 31 July 2026.
TVET applicants
If you applied with TVET college results, email the administrative staff of your programme's department after you submit, and copy the Assistant Registrar. VUT lists these contacts on its how to apply page.
Residence status
Your residence application and registration are handled separately on the iEnabler. You can only register for residence after completing academic registration.
Getting help
For enquiries, email studentenquiries@vut.ac.za or call 0861 681 888. VUT also lists student enquiry and support contacts on its website. See the VUT student portal page.
