Reviewed by Makona Mandla · Last checked 5 November 2026

The University of Limpopo (UL) offers undergraduate programmes through four faculties, mainly at its Turfloop campus near Polokwane. The details below come from UL's 2027 undergraduate prospectus and its 2026 student fees guide.

UL's four faculties

  • Faculty of Humanities: BA degrees, such as the Languages stream, Social Work and BEd degrees
  • Faculty of Management and Law: the Bachelor of Accountancy, BCom degrees, the Bachelor of Administration and the LLB
  • Faculty of Science and Agriculture: BSc degrees in the natural, agricultural and computer sciences
  • Faculty of Health Sciences: the MBChB, dietetics, nursing and other health sciences programmes

Examples of minimum APS

  • Bachelor of Accountancy (BAcc): APS 30
  • LLB: APS 30, or 26 for the extended curriculum programme
  • MBChB: APS 27, with level 5 in Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences
  • BCom in Accountancy: APS 28
  • Bachelor of Administration and Bachelor of Social Work: APS 26
  • BEd (Senior Phase and FET Teaching): APS 24

Extended curriculum programmes

UL offers extended curriculum programmes in several faculties for students whose results fall a little short. They add support in the first year and usually accept a lower APS, such as 22 for the extended BCom in Economics and some extended BSc streams.

Additional selection

A few programmes have extra admission criteria apart from the APS, explained in the undergraduate prospectus. Applicants to these may be conditionally admitted pending the outcome of the extra evaluation.

Tuition per module

UL charges tuition per module, so your total depends on the modules in your programme each year. Its tuition fee list shows the price of each module in each qualification. Read more on the UL fees page.

Cancelling modules

If you cancel year modules between 1 January and 28 February, you owe nothing for them. From 1 March to 30 June, you owe 50%, from 1 July to 30 September 75%, and from 1 October 100%. Local students also pay a non-refundable academic administration fee of R3,430 if they cancel registration.

Other qualifications

UL converts National Certificate (Vocational) and international results with its own tables in the prospectus.

Fees during disruptions

UL's fee guide says students remain liable for all prescribed fees even if programmes are interrupted by strikes, protests, pandemics or other disruptions beyond the university's control.

Choosing your programmes

You can choose two study options on one application, and meeting the minimum does not guarantee a place. See the UL admission requirements page and the how to apply page.
